Adjust Timing Tool

Time Adjust lets you move any track forward or backward directly in Cryo Mix, so you can fix misaligned stems without having to re-export your session.

Fix the Groove Without Leaving the Browser.

Weโ€™ve all been there: you export your stems (separate tracks like vocals, drums, guitar) from your DAW (your recording software), upload them to Cryo Mix and realize the vocals are coming in a split-second late.

In the past, youโ€™d have to go back to your computer, fix the session, re-export, and re-upload. Not anymore. With the Adjust Timing Tool, you can slide your audio into the perfect pocket right inside the Studio.

When to use this tool

  • Misaligned Stems: If any of your files aren't synced perfectly with the beat.
  • Gaps: If your instrumental has a few milliseconds of silence at the start that throws off the downbeat (the first โ€œ1โ€ of the bar).
  • Creative Changes: If you want to deliberately shift a track to have a "laid back" or "rushed" feel.

How to Adjust Timing

Look at the Toolbar at the top of the Mixing Studio.

Step A: Select the Tool Click the Adjust Timing Icon.

Step B: Grab & Drag

  • Click and hold on the specific waveform you want to move (e.g., the Lead Vocal track).
  • Drag Left: To make the audio play earlier.
  • Drag Right: To make the audio play later.

Step C: Check the Sync

  • Use the Solo (S) button on the track you are moving and the Instrumental track.
  • Listen closely to the snare or kick to ensure your vocal is locking in perfectly with the rhythm.

Companion Tools: Eraser & Cut

Sometimes moving audio creates new problems. Use these tools to clean up:

  • The Eraser Tool: If you nudge a track and reveal a section of unwanted breath noise or a click, select the Eraser from the toolbar to instantly silence that specific spot.
  • The Cut Tool: Slices audio into separate regions you can edit independently. Cut between correctly-timed and misaligned sections, then nudge only what needs fixing.

Pro Tip: For the most precise adjustments, use the Waveform Zoom controls to get a close-up view of the transient (the sharp spike at the start of the sound). Visually aligning the start of a vocal phrase with the start of a drum hit is often the fastest way to get everything back in sync.
